But I'm thinking that the existing people'd most likely be NPCs.

OC's are typically better than previously established characters. However, characters based upon established characters or established characters given a twist are pretty cool. If you guys do end up doing something akin to a super power Rp expect to see me there. Its about time Catherine gets into an Rp where she isn't fluffed up by some ignoramus or ignored in place of 'better roleplayers'' characters.

Edit: Also, I hope I remain Silv amongst you close friends. Terra/Paradise are just nice titles, Silv is always who I'll be for you guys. =)

Right, so my idea's pretty popular then. I'll see what I can do but Oreoho will remain my priority (of course). I'd be happy to collaborate with anybody. I seem to make better stuff if I can bounce ideas off of people. xD

And elitism isn't allowed here anyway. There are certain people (not going to mention names) who annoy me because they seem to think that you need a degree in being a pompous twat to post anything in a roleplay.

It's a shame that I don't have a moustache as well. Just saying. =(

I know Hutjung and I had this conversation yesterday, however thinking back on it, it really didn't answer that...

We went through this is quite a bit of detail...a character that isn't established is original. Doesn't matter if they're practically a clone, they are still original in this sense.

I agree to an extent. Most of the OCs I create are based around characteristics that I see in people that I know in real life. I choose the most interesting traits and model them into my own characters, and the challenges that are brought around by character development are welcomed imo. I recycle my characters a lot but I make sure that they're thrown into completely different situations within each story arch to ensure that they remain 'fresh'.

Taking a character who already exists can also be challenging on the other hand. You need to ensure that you're not making them into something that they're not. But...this isn't something that appeals to me. I don't frown upon it, but...it's hard to explain.

All in all - every original or new character is based off of something else to an extent, and it's not really a bad thing.

EDIT: I agree with Jack as well. He's a ninja. =P
Double edit: I mean the hat boy...I only just seemed to realise that there's two Jacks. Derp derp!

So if I take Edd, put a Tom beard on him, and give him Matt's behaviour it's an OC, even though it lacks originality?
