Exerpt - Lost

(This is based around a couple of characters that're in my statistical library).

Light. Distorted sounds. Those combined sensations made the pair feel as if they were submerged under water. They were floating yet they felt heavier than a boulder. Even though they were both in a temporary state of peace, they knew that something awful had transpired and there was nothing that they could've done to prevent it from happening.

Thud. A pair of bodies impacted against the sandy earth. The younger, smaller figure stirred first. His light blue optics opened slowly, their eyelids fluttering open slowly until something snapped abruptly inside his brain. The brown-haired infividual stumbled up to his feet and scanned the landscape before him. It was a barren, desolate place. The earth was merely composed of something grainy, almost like sand. There were no significant landmarks either. The sky was a pleasant light blue in hue, which contrasted heavily against the harsh nature of the ground underneath them. But something wasn't right...the human whom was on his feet straightened up his green, hooded cloak and puckered his lips in thought.

'Shouldn't the climate be warm? It seems relatively cold here...' he enquired, speaking to his companion. He glanced down at a giant of a man whom was sat on the grainy earth. His thick, green hair had been tousled somewhat. The behemoth's worn black coat was covered with the sandy material that the floor beneath them was composed of. He looked straight into the brown-haired man's face, revealing narrow eyes and a square jaw that was shadowed by green stubble.
'You shouldn't assume things about an environment that you don't know about Paulo,' the other said in a deep, almost thunder-like voice. At first his expression was rather stern but then a light smile curled his lips.
'Fair point Robert. So...what do we do now?' Paulo asked quietly.

Robert dusted himself off before clambering into an upright position. He literally towered over Paulo, being at least two feet taller than him height-wise. His large, coal-coloured boots gleamed in the sunlight. They greatly contrasted against Paulo's worn sandals. His already narrow eyes narrowed even more as his gaze raked the horizon carefully.
'All we can do is attempt to find some form of civilisation. In other words, we'll head due north for now.'
Paulo nodded in agreement and walked at a brisque pace until he was able to keep up with Robert's wide strides. Black trousers contrasted greatly against the smaller figure's white ones. Both pairs of eyes constantly flickered between different sections of the landscape, but they found nothing of any particular interest. In fact, the only interesting thing that passed them by was a large ball of tumbleweed which made Paulo jump. Robert steadied him from behind and came to an abrupt halt.

'Wait. Something doesn't seem right at all...' Robert uttered lowly. Paulo shivered. Within a matter of moments the temperature had dropped by a few degrees at least. The air distorted around them and four shadowy figures materialised out of nowhere, their bodies completely composed of something that appeared to be smoke. The only discernable features that they had were a pair of gleaming white eyes each.

'En garde!' Robert barked. He raised his fists in front of his face for protection. A pair of metal plated fingerless gloves shone as the sunlight hit them. Paulo was more nervous, but yet again he nodded and instead of raising his hands he enveloped them in a vibrant green light purely by force of will. But he knew full well that he would be doing the distracting and the healing. Combat wasn't his thing. Robert was much better at handling all of the matters that related to violence. It wasn't hard to believe due to his very bulky/muscular frame.

End!
